Our Weekend

We had a very busy and productive weekend. Friday night we went to the park for a picnic dinner with friends. They were supposed to have "Family Fun Night" at the park. Not so much, they were supposed to be bounce houses, face painting, wiffle ball, sack races, etc. Then movies in the park at 9p.m. They did have one bounce house and did do the movie, however that was all. Though we didn't get all they had described, we did have a fun time. The kids played and walked around the lake, and the adults got some good quality time talking and laughing. Saturday was filled with softball and t-ball games, craft shows, pictures, lunch with friends and church. Today, we woke up, cleaned the upstairs, organized the kids room...again, played basketball with the kids, went to the movies and home to do laundry. This week will be another crazy one, but I wouldn't change it. I love it when we are together as a family.

One GREAT Friday

Wow what a great day. Joe was a WATCH D.O.G.S. dad today at the kids school. This is... Dad's of Great Students. It is where the dad's work a day in the school going from room to room working with kids that may need a little extra help. It is also to have a male infulence on the campus that is mostly all women. The kids love it that dad goes with them to school. He has done it twice this year and really enjoys it. Today was great. He took the kids to school, including Shee, so I got to stay in bed and sleep. I was so tired from the week of running, running and more running that I didn't wake up til 10a.m. When school was over, we spent the afternoon with the kids which we rarely get to do without having an agenda. We had growth group tonight, we went to the park where they were supposed to be having bounce houses, sack races, face painting, wiffle ball, fishing and more. Unfortunatly all we got was one bounce house. The kids still seemed to have fun and it was nice just setting around talking with friends. Tomorrow brings a busy day of softball and t-ball games, t-ball pictures, a craft fair in downtown and then church. Busy, busy, but so worth it. I'm glad I got to sleep a little extra today. Well off to bed I go.

Love Kindergarten

Oh how I love the Kindergarten years. Today was Owen's field trip, we went to Owen's Farm in Richardson. It was a beautiful day, sunny sky's, a small breeze. Owen's first school bus ride. He loved it, he got to sit with his best friends. His buddy for the day was one of his best friends Christopher. This was neat to see as four years ago Katelyn's buddy on her kindergarten field trip was Christopher's sister Caitlyn, they were best friends that year as well. We got to see the huge horses, my favorite was Capt. Midnight, he measured 18 hands. Not that I know what this means exactly. The man who led us around said they measure horses by hands, who's hands? I don't know. It was all new to me, the city girl who secretly longs to have some country in her. We got to see three pot belly pigs, a turkey, rooster, and chickens, then we got to see a 16 day old miniature horse and a 8 day old miniature horse. So precious. Owen and his friends loved the hay ride, but not nearly as much as they loved feeding the goats. We have fed goats lots of times before, but for some reason this was more fun. After a picnic lunch and group photo it was back to the bus or home. Owen of course choose going back to school on the bus rather than riding home with mom. He has the best teacher, Mrs. Meadors loves her kids, and oh how they love her. It was a wonderful, God Blessed day.

Love Saturdays

We had such a awesome day today. Joe was off of work, we didn't have games due to rain, and all was right with the world. We did a few errands and took the kids to the movies. We seen Monsters vs. Aliens, not that great, but not that bad either. Thought it would be better than it was. Katelyn wanted to see Hannah Montana but was not something Joe and Owen wanted to watch. I see a Hannah Montana movie in our future, maybe we can make a day of it and get our nails done as well. I'm in need of a fill. Found out yesterday that my brother in law got married to his long time girlfriend. Great news to hear though I was sad that we didn't know before it happened. Katelyn has wanted to see them get married for some time now. Their beautiful daughter Bella is three and they are expecting their second child in Nov. I have known Tony since he was 12 years old and have watched him grow into a good and loving man, father and now husband. I'm so proud of him and so excited for their family. We went to church tonight, where Joe and I ended up working in classrooms with three and four year olds. Oh my, not fun tonight. The kids were out of control and nothing we did seemed to help. Days like this makes me want to never work with them again. Needless to say, I was exhausted and ready to leave when the second hour teachers came in. Well all of my family is sleeping on the couch so I guess I will try to go to bed myself. Saying goodnight to a wonderful day.

Quiet Mornings

Today is a quiet, peaceful day for me. Home alone for a while. The kids are at school and I am now with out Tyler (age 4) who I babysat for 15 months. It is strange not to have him here, but I am starting to see the blessing that this new phase of my life is offering. I secretly really like being alone, having time to think, is so relaxing for me. At most times during the day I'm at peace. I love being rested and excited to pick up the kids from school, something I haven't been in a while. I can see a change in their behavior as well. Though Owen is missing having someone to play with he kind of likes that they are not fighting all the time either. I love that I haven't had to raise my voice to my kids once this whole week. I do worry sometimes about the money I won't be bringing in to the household but Joe keeps reminding me that God will provided. As I'm looking out the window and seeing that spring is all around me how could I not believe that God will not provide. It is in him that I find my peace. Quiet Mornings...you just got to love them.

New to the Blogging World

Hello-

Today is my first day of blogging. I know... I'm so many years behind, but better late than never.

Today finds me at home with one sick child, Katelyn has double ear infections and a sinus infection. Doctor gave her meds, so hopefully she will be feeling better soon. Owen cried this morning when I told him that Katelyn wasn't going to school because she was sick. He said he was sick too. I explained as best I could about having the sniffles and being sick. I don't think he really got it, but he went to school with a smile on his face non the less.

I got news that makes me so sad and confused. I have a lot of praying to do about my new situation. I will post more on this later as prayers are answered or at least my confusion is. We had a wonderful Easter. We went to church on Saturday night, then Sunday we got up to watch the kids hunt for eggs inside the house since the weather was rainy outside. We sat around and played games, talked and did some laundry. I wasn't ready for the day to end, we don't get many great days where we aren't having to run here and there all the time and can just be.

I took this picture this weekend of my kiddos. Enjoy.
